ByteSize Gaming is the revived home of a small indie games project by Richie, also known online as Orangerobot.
Before lockdown, Richie started exploring the idea of reviewing indie games under the name IndieGamingSocial. Around that time, he met Blair, also known as Parcival, who was creating his own gaming content, mainly around management games.
The two clicked.
IndieGamingSocial became a place for written reviews, live play reviews, short social media reviews, developer interviews, and a lot of indie game discovery. Blair built the website and wrote reviews. Richie streamed live play reviews on Twitch and YouTube, posted shorter reviews on Instagram and Twitter, and got to try a huge range of games — some brilliant, some strange, and some that are now permanently haunting his Steam library.
During lockdown, the project thrived. There was time, energy, and a growing indie games community around it. Later, IndieGamingSocial became part of a wider group of indie game reviewers.
Eventually, life caught up.
Work returned. Time disappeared. The project slowed down. IndieGamingSocial was closed, and ByteSize Gaming was created as a fresh start — but even that had to pause.
Until now.
ByteSize Gaming is back, but this time from the other side of the desk.
Richie is currently developing The Shelf, a small British Twine prototype about housing applications, council flats, paperwork, and people trying to get by.
It is early days. The first release date is still somewhere in the clouds, but the aim is to build a small, focused prototype and share the journey as it develops.
ByteSize Gaming may return to reviews from time to time, but for now the focus is simple:
Making the first game.
